The bathroom is a safe haven where we get ready to tackle the day and the place where we take a bath to relax when we get home. We spend a lot of time in the bathroom – more than we think – so it’s important that it’s clean, fresh and pleasing to the eye. New bathroom trends are always coming up (I find myself constantly pinning photos of beautiful bathrooms) and the next thing I’ve got my eye on is a walk-in shower.

I think walk-in showers can improve the look of your bathroom; they can help to make even a small bathroom feel more spacious and give it a hotel-like atmosphere. If you too are considering installing a new shower, see these reviews which can give you more ideas and information on walk-in showers and below are a few types that you might want to consider for your own home…

GLASS ENCLOSURES

This type of shower is completely surrounded by glass panels and works for a private bathroom. The glass takes the entire bathroom to the next level as it helps to create an elegant, classy look. Plus, the glass makes it feel open and spacious. This kind of bathroom is very easy to maintain as glass is quite easy to clean with a leave-on spray or by giving it a quick wipe over with squeegee after you shower. Glass also allows for a lot of light to enter the room and using bright white tiles will create a clean, airy look.

SPA-INSPIRED

Have you been to a spa recently? Then you’ll know what kind of walk-in shower I’m talking about. A lovely mosaic or tiled enclosure where a lot of attention has been paid to the interior décor of the shower. This not only includes the tiles but the shower heads, benches, and even the towels and lighting. If you would like to get this kind of walk-in shower look in your own home, try to match the tiles on your shower walls to those on the floor. You can even add mosaic tiles to some ceilings if you’re having lighting installed into the shower enclosure too. How about using two different colours that compliment each other in a beautiful and artistic way? Getting towels that match will help to create a complete spa look. Consider having a shelf or alcove integrated into your shower where you can place all your bathing essentials such as soap and oils.

ALL IN ONE

If you have plenty of bathroom space, you don’t have to get rid of your bathtub just to install your walk-in shower. It is possible to include both in one room, giving you the option to choose either taking a relaxing hot shower or to laze around in the tub after a long day. A shower unit built into the corner of the room could even include a steam generator to turn the walk-in shower into a steam room – how luxurious! If space allows, add a small bench which you can sit on while you are having a steam session.

Do you have any of these shower styles in your own home? I’d love to hear more about how you installed them or got a spa-like look on a budget so please leave me a comment below. And do tag me in your bathroom photos on instagram @Cassiefairy so that I can have a look.
